Subic Bay is located on the main island of Luzón, about 100 km northwest of Manila Bay. The bay is framed by Bataan in the south, the municipality of Subic in the north and Olongapo City in the east.
With a jeepney we start in General Tinio and make our way to Subic Bay. However, we make a stopover with friends in Macabebe. Macabebe reminds me a little of Venice in Italy. Many houses are built on stilts so that they do not stand in the water. We arrive in Subic Bay. East of the bay is the Subic Watershed Forest Reserve. Our hotel, the Camayan Beach Resort, is located on the edge of this nature reserve. The access to the area and towards the hotel is guarded by security guards. Right next to our Camayan Beach Resort is the Ocean Adventure, a zoo with a dolphinarium. In the hotel restaurant I ate super fine pepper steaks, the best meat I have ever eaten in the Philippines. We spotted hundreds of bats on the trees on the road to the resort. And now and then there are herds of monkeys on the street. In the hotel, too, we would be warned not to leave anything on the terrace so that it would not be stolen by the monkeys. One day we met a sea lion in the hotel complex who was promoting the neighboring Ocean Adventure on a walk. Links: Macabebe Wikipedia Camayan Beach Resort |
