- 2019 ist our next trip to the Philippines. From Zurich we fly to Manila with Emirates. There we make a short stopover at 101 Hotel in Manila.

The Bicol Region is located at the southeast end of the main island of Luzon. ​The first stage of our journey by car is from Manila to Naga (Camarines Sur), the journey takes around 10 hours. We drive through endless forests, impressive.

In Naga we stay for a few days. We stayed at the Hotel CBD Plaza, but I cannot recommend it. 

From Naga we make a trip to Daraga, Albay. There we visited the Cagsawa Ruins. The 1814 eruption was recorded to be worst eruption of Mt. Mayon. Some 1,200 people who took refuge and sought the sanctuary of the church during the eruption all died when the church was engulfed by the flowing lava. Only the Cagsawa church belfry remains today. It is a grim reminder of the events that took place and many people come to see the belfry as a reminder of times past. 
In the evening we visited friends in Legazpi City, the capital of Albay Province.

To marvel at the most beautiful volcano in the world - Mount Mayon - we slept one night in the Mayon Lodging House. Our pictures of the volcano come from the roof terrace there.

After returning to Naga, we traveled further northeast to Tinambac. There we bought food for the next few days. Then we went to our destination, Caloco Beach. There we made ourselves some wonderful days of cooking on the fire, sleeping in tents and refreshing in the sea.
By 2025 we want to build two bungalows here, which we will then rent to tourists. So maybe see you soon in Caloco Beach.

After 5 days in Caloco Beach we drove back to Cavite. There we treated ourselves to a few more days at the Bayleaf Hotel in Cavite.
