2015 we visit Boracay. We started this trip in Manila. By plane we went to Caticlan, a neighboring island of Boracay. From Caticlan it goes by boat to Boracay.
Boracay is a small island that is northwest of Panay. It is almost ten square kilometers and one of the most famous tourist destinations in the Philippines. The famous White Beach is an approx. 3.5 km long sandy beach with fine white sand and shallow water.
We booked for 4 nights at the Blue Marina Hotel. The hotel convinced us with its cleanliness, friendliness and the proximity to White Beach. In addition to the beach life, we made trips for the boys to go karting and a buggy tour to Mount Luho. Mount Luho is only about 100 meters high, but the view over the island is magnificent. In the evening eating on the beach in one of the many "all you can eat" restaurants was a hit. The algae infestation on White Beach is already visible in our photos. The government reacted - rather unexpectedly for me - to the excessive tourism and closed the island for half a year in 2018. This to stop the wild growth of tourism. Since the end of 2018, new rules apply to the island and tourists: A maximum of 6000 tourists are allowed per year Deck chairs, umbrellas, alcohol, eating and smoking are prohibited on the beach. Boracay can only be entered with a hotel booking via the southern harbor, the boats must be approved. Souvenir shops and tables in the restaurants on the beach are prohibited. Links: |
